World's smallest self protected MOSFET takes 85% less space
  
Adding to its IntelliFET product range, Diodes Incorporated has introduced the world’s smallest fully self protected low side MOSFET.
Packaged in the 2.3mm x 2.8mm footprint ‘flat’ SOT23F package, the ZXMS6004FF takes 85% less board space than incumbent 7.3mm x 6.7mm
footprint SOT223 packaged parts.
Despite its miniature format, the superior thermal performance of the SOT23 flat package enables the ZXMS6004FF to deliver a package
power density three times that of SOT223 and a footprint that is six times smaller. With an on-state resistance of just 500m?, this latest
IntelliFET also ensures that power dissipation is kept to an absolute minimum.
Integrating ESD, over-voltage, over-current and over-temperature protection into a single thermally efficient package, the ZXMS6004FF
protects both itself and the load, and will help reduce component count, PCB size and overall system cost in a range of automotive and industrial
applications. The device’s ultra small form factor will also enable space restricted applications to integrate self protected MOSFETs for the very
first time.
The device has a continuous current rating of 1A and is qualified to the AECQ101 standard, being tolerant of 60V load dump transients.
With a logic level input of either 3.3V or 5V, the ZXMS6004FF can be driven directly from microcontroller outputs.

Smart motor controller provides all-in-one solution
  
Diodes Incorporated has introduced a single chip solution providing all the functionality required for driving low power single coil brushless
DC fans and motors. The AH5792 integrates a Hall sensor and amplifier, complete digital control circuitry and a full bridge output driver in the
low profile SOT553 package and will appeal in particular to low voltage micro-motors and ultra thin cooling fan applications.
With its bi-directional, H-bridge output stage, the AH5792 suits single-phase full wave brushless DC motor control, by offering a pair of
push-pull output drivers to source and sink current. The device operating voltage range of 1.8V to 5V also caters for low operating voltage
miniature DC fans requiring low voltage start-up.
To protect motor windings from damage, the new motor controller includes integrated locked rotor detection and automatic self restart
functions which serve to shutdown the output driver in the event of a locked rotor and then restart the motor when the rotor is freed. In addition,
a frequency generator output provides users with tachometer-like feedback for external speed monitoring. The all-in-one smart motor controller
eliminates the need for external components including a timing capacitor.
The AH5792 has an operating temperature range of –40C to 100C and is fully RoHs complaint with Green molding compound.

Power switch family protects USB port in consumer and computing applications
  
Diodes Incorporated has extended its series of USB power switches with the introduction of 12 new parts, providing a cost effective and
small form fit for USB ports in a wide range of consumer electronics. Offering designers 0.75A, 1.5A and 2.1A current limiting options and a
choice of active-high and active-low enable, the AP21XX optimizes port protection in a host of different systems.
The AP21XX high-side power switch range has been created for USB port applications requiring fast response, high accuracy over-current
and over-temperature protection, such as HD televisions, set top boxes and PCs. Both single and dual channel power switches are available,
with all devices being optimized for self-powered and bus-powered USB applications and fully compliant with all USB standards.
The power switches include an internal sensing FET which monitors for over-current conditions, without increasing series resistance in the
current path, and an over-temperature sensor. If either over-current or over temperature conditions are sensed, the device switches into its
current limiting mode. To prevent unwanted tripping when a high capacitive load is connected to the device output, a 7ms deglitch timeout has
also been included in the AP21XX’s design.
The USB power switch family is provided in small footprint SOT25, SOP-8L and MSOP-8L-EP packages. All of which are direct replacements
for existing industry standard parts. Device operating ambient temperature range is -40 to 85oC. AP21XX family devices are priced from $0.35
USD in 1k quantities for single power switches in SOT25 and are available through regular distribution channels.
